Frequently Asked Questions
Will my flowers change colour?
Yes, some colour change is completely normal — and honestly, it's part of the charm. As flowers dry, their tones shift and settle. Whites and creams often take on a soft antique or tea-stained hue, foliage can deepen to richer greens or gentle browns, and pinks and purples may soften or intensify. Reds are the big movers, they often transform into burgundy, deep wine, or even a rich chocolate tone, and that happens in around 90% of cases. I'll always talk you through what to expect for your particular blooms. Think of it less as fading and more as your flowers gracefully ageing into a keepsake with real depth.
How long will my preserved flowers last?
Preserved flowers are designed to be enjoyed for years...but these are natural materials, and they'll continue to gently age over time. I never promise "forever," because that wouldn't be honest. How long they stay at their best comes down largely to how they're cared for. A few simple things make a big difference:
-
Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources like fireplaces, vents and spotlights
-
Choose a stable spot — avoid rooms with big temperature or humidity swings, like bathrooms
-
If you're cleaning the glass, spray onto a cloth first, never directly onto the frame
-
Ask me about UV-protective glass for extra defence against fading
Treated kindly, your piece will stay beautiful for a very long time.
How long does the preservation process take?
Around 4 to 6 weeks from when your flowers reach me, though it can vary a little depending on the type of flowers, the complexity of your piece and how busy I am at the time. I'll give you an estimated completion date once your flowers arrive, so you're never left wondering.
Are preserved flowers 3D or pressed flat?
3D — and that's the heart of what I do. Rather than pressing flowers flat, I dry them in silica gel so they keep their full shape, depth and personality. The result is a flower that looks remarkably close to the day you held it, not a flattened version of it. Pressing has its own lovely, delicate look, but if you want your blooms to keep their form and feel real, 3D preservation is the way.
What can my flowers be displayed in?
I offer three main ways to display your preserved flowers:
-
Framed arrangements — your blooms arranged and set within a frame, ready to hang or stand
-
Glass domes — a beautiful, sculptural way to show flowers from every angle
-
Resin pieces — your dried flowers set in resin for a solid, modern keepsake
Each has a different look and feel, and I'm happy to help you choose what suits your flowers and your space.
Can you preserve any type of flower?
Most flowers preserve beautifully, but some are trickier than others — very delicate, thin-petalled blooms can be more fragile to work with, and every flower behaves a little differently in the drying process. I'll always assess your particular flowers and be honest with you about how they're likely to hold up. If something's a challenge, I'll tell you before we start, not after.
Will my bouquet look exactly as it did on the day?
Not exactly — and that's worth knowing up front. To preserve your flowers properly, I fully deconstruct the bouquet and dry each bloom individually, then carefully rebuild it into your finished piece. So it's lovingly reassembled rather than frozen precisely as you held it, and colours will have shifted a little along the way. A tip that really helps: bring me extra flowers where you can — bridesmaids' posies, table blooms, anything from the day — so I've got the best possible selection to work with. And in the rare case a particular bloom doesn't make it through the process, I'll always let you know and work with you on the best result.
Can you preserve flowers that have already dried or wilted?
Often, yes — but let's have a chat first. It really depends on the condition they're in. Flowers that are fresh, or only just starting to fade, give the best results, but I'm happy to take a look at what you have and give you an honest view before you commit.
Do you work with artificial or silk flowers?
Yes — if you had a silk or artificial bouquet, I can frame or set those into a keepsake for you too. They don't need the drying process, but they can still be arranged into a beautiful piece to display.
Which areas do you cover?
I'm based on the Gold Coast and work with clients right across the region — the Gold Coast, the hinterland, the Tweed, and up into Brisbane. For some Gold Coast areas, drop-off and pick-up can be arranged. If you're further afield, you're welcome to post your flowers to me — just get in touch and we'll sort out the details together.
How much does it cost?
It varies depending on the piece, the size and the finishing option you choose, so the best place to see current options is my pricing page. To secure your spot in my calendar, I take a $300 deposit, which is non-refundable as it reserves your place and covers the early work on your piece.
Can I add keepsakes like invitations or photos?
Absolutely — and it's one of my favourite things to do. Your wedding invitation, a treasured photo, a ribbon, a charm or a locket can all be set into your frame or resin piece alongside your flowers. It's a lovely way to bring more of your day into the keepsake and make it completely your own.
Do you preserve memorial or funeral flowers?
Yes, and I treat this work with all the gentleness it deserves. Flowers given in love mean so much more than words sometimes can, and I work closely with families to preserve them into something lasting and meaningful — a tangible connection to someone deeply loved. Every memorial piece is different, so I'll take the time to understand what feels right for you, and we'll create something together with no rush and no pressure.
How do I get my flowers to you?
Drop-off is my preferred way, and the one I'd always recommend. Hand-delivering your flowers means they arrive in the best possible condition, and we can arrange a time and place that suits — just get in touch and we'll sort it out.
I do occasionally accept posted flowers, but I'll be honest with you: it's not something I recommend. Our Queensland heat and humidity are hard on fresh blooms in transit, and parcels can be knocked about along the way, both of which can affect how well your flowers preserve. If posting really is your only option, get in touch first and we'll talk through whether it's worth the risk for your particular flowers, and how to give them the best chance.
Either way, the sooner your flowers reach me after your day, the better — fresh blooms preserve far better than ones that have started to wilt.
What if I need to cancel?
I completely understand that plans change. The $300 deposit is non-refundable, as it secures your place in my calendar and covers the early work on your piece. Once the preservation process has begun, I'm unable to offer a refund, simply because the work is already underway. If anything comes up, just talk to me — I'll always do my best to help where I can.
